Westray bairns and the story of St Magnus

A new addition to the exhibition at Westray Heritage Centre is a number of dioramas and recordings by the children from the middle primary class at Westray Junior High School.

The children have made cut-out models to depict the story of Magnus Erlendsson who was murdered in Egilsay 900 years ago. There is also a recording of the bairns telling the story of St Magnus and another of the Magnus March, played by Bobby Harcus on the fiddle.

There are also pictures of Westray schoolchildren at the 870th St Magnus commemoration in Egilsay in 1987, along with the handmade sign they carried with them that day.
